Pawleys Island is the oldest seaside resort in America. The Founders Club at Pawleys Island opened in 1966 as the Sea Gull Golf Club, which, as the fourth oldest golf course in the Myrtle Beach area, was one of the originals. There were no homes anywhere around it, and now we have fourteen road crossings due to the surrounding housing development.The Highlights of the Founders Club history are:

1966 – Opened as the Sea Gull Golf Club, designed by Gene Hamm.

2006 – Major renovation by architect Thomas Walker atop the old course.

2008 – Opened as the Founders Club at Pawleys Island.

2009 – Chosen as one of the 30 Best Courses You can Play in South Carolina by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel.

2011 – Chosen as both Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association and as one of the 30 Best Courses You can Play in South Carolina by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel.

2014 – Founders Club at Pawleys Island was purchased by Yiqian Funding, which has formed Founders Group International.
